What is wedlock?

What a wedding-ful weekend...my lucky brother is engaged to the most awesome girl ever, Erica. They had an engagement party this weekend. I am still dying to see photos, hear the stories of mayhem, and share in their joy. Their wedding is in November in Florida (and I am in the wedding party, YIPPEE). I will put some pictures up when I receive them.

Also, my great friend Liz is getting married in 24 days! I attended her bridal shower on Saturday. I appointed myself "maker-of-the-ribbon-hat" as she opened gifts.

I learned much this weekend:

Concerning bridal showers...
1. If the bride-to-be breaks a ribbon while opening a gift that means she will soon have a baby.
2. The number of ribbons she breaks equals the number of kids she will mother.
3. The ribbons are to be gathered and assembled into a bouquet (this quickly became a hat at this party).
4. My friends and I sure know how to "wrap-up" a bridal shower!

Concerning me...
4. Drinking mimosas after running 12 hard miles gives me a headache.
5. I love the idea of marriage, yet have no idea what it means!

Here is my challenge to you:
Share your thoughts on wedlock.
(I will withhold my thoughts and constant queries until I read yours!)

It was great fun and for me connects your text honoring international women's day. To be around woman is a unique, enriching time. At the bridal shower I felt so whole, sharing in laughter and the spirit of sacrifice (a majority of the gifts where to help me be a better wife/cook) -sacrific in the sense that we give of ourselves to those we love without hesitation and to do it well I truly recommend a good wine-bottle opener!

This is great pre-wedding prose! Some questions for you: Do you recommend partaking in the open wine bottle alone, or should he join? What about that enormous pot? Anything yummy go in and then come out differently?
Oh, and, just so you know...my gift had nothing to do with you changing...in fact, I was hoping you would buy some organic sateen sheets. Just goes to show you where my mind is and what I know about buying bridal shower gifts! Or, maybe you could buy a new yoga mat (see, this is as far as I can throw this idea of "sacrifice").
I LOVE YOU...keep writing my secret-literary friend who is getting married in a FEW DAYS!

The bottle is always open for anyone who wishes to share in the delicious nectar (is it nectar? grapes, right, humm...), it's role is to ease the moments when I feel as though my work day hasn't ended or for the fleeting thoughts of take-out. Often, during the week, I have a glass alone, cooking alone, finding peace in the preparation of nutrients for both of us. I get excited about how colorful I can make the salad or how creative I am with spices.

The huge pot has yet to unveil it's abilities...it's a daunting utensil! I think I'll make a big pot of vegetable soup for a dinner party in April.

As for your gracious gift, I think I might be even more selfish and get the yoga ball chair to use at work...so many choices!

You do not need any further cookbooks, for you are already chatting about the "colors" in your salad...how could you possibly be more culinary? i would love to see (read: eat) one of your colorful salads! ummmm, yummmm!
