Salar de Uyuni Bolivia

This natural hot spring was the beginning of our four day trek to Uyuni, Bolivia from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. As you can tell from this picture, I was in awe of the mineral bath and the scenery. During this trek we peaked at just about 5000 meters above sea level and climbed 3000 meters in a matter of hours. The altitude change was hard on me (more so than for Aaron), but the landscape and seeing the largest salt flat (Salar de Uyuni) in the world was worth a little agony. We have many amazing photos, but here in the desert of San Pedro it is as it should be...few high speed connections with cyber space. We head south to Santiago in a couple of days. I will upload the amazingness of our four-day trek when we return to the modern world.

Hola! We're back from our vacation, which was wonderful, despite the weight of the packs on the hikes...and I was back at Chavez today! I'm very excited, to tell the truth (I know that's hard to believe, especially from where you are). Enjoy the last few days and call when you get back...and come over for dinner (with Keba!) asap!...The Keba part especially! ;)

Simon,
We will be over for dinner asap (I will have to make sure that Keba wants to before I commit him)! I can´t wait to return to work as well...we are such teacher dorks! In fact, I just put down my copy of Tears for a Tiger, which is now full of post-its and I am brewing with ideas. See you soon!

Hola Mom and Dad,
So I have your number and will try to call tomorrow from Santiago. We board a bus for 20 long hours, but through the breath-taking scenery of Chile´s coastal areas. I am really looking forward to seeing you too. Have fun in FLorida and give Scott and Erica and huge hug from me!
